Adelaide International Road Race 2011
Date Saturday 16th July / Sunday 17th July2011
The Members of Kells MCRC will be on hand at the Motorcycle & Scooter Show in The RDS Dublin to promote the 2011 Adelaide International Kells Road Races this coming weekend. The show starts on Friday 4th of March until Sunday 6th .
Race Secretary Aileen Ferguson stated that “Kells MCRC were delighted once again to be working side by side with Adelaide Insurance Services to promote the popular Adelaide International Kells Road Races”. Last year was a particularly difficult year for the club and our sponsor Adelaide, especially after the cancellation of the event due to atrocious weather and the continuing support from Sam Geddis and Adelaide Insurance is greatly appreciated by the club.
Although this will be a tough year for Road Racing because of the financial situation all clubs find themselves in the members of Kells MCRC are working hard to put together a top class event once more. The Road Races in July have become the biggest sporting event in North Meath and this year the club celebrates their 17th Race.
The first ever Race took place in Dulane, Kells in 1994 which saw such stars as Joey Dunlop, James Courtney, Ian King and Adrian Archibald take part. Over the years the Kells Club have built up a loyal fan base from both riders and race fans and many exciting battles took place between the likes of Guy Martin, Richard Britton, Cameron Donald, Keith Amor and of course Ryan Farquhar to name but a few.
The weekend of the races sees the 4th Annual “Kells to Kells” Rideout taking place , starting at Kells in Co. Antrim and it is organised by the Quay Vipers MCC and sponsored by Adelaide Insurance. It has become a very popular Cross Border / Cross Community event with fun activities at the Community Centre in Kells. Each year the rideout gets bigger and better, so calling all bikers, meet at the Community Centre, Kells Co.Antrim on Saturday 16th July .
The “Kells to Kells” finishes on the Fairgreen in Kells Co. Meath where Tony Lynch from Kells MCRC has once again organised a host of fun for all the family including FREE Bouncy Castles for the Children, face painting, music and of course back by popular demand “World Stunt Rider Mattie Griffin”. It promises to be an action packed day and best of all it is FREE for all the family courtesy of Kells MCRC.
Practice for the races will take place on Saturday 16th July and Race Day is Sunday 17th. It promises to be an action packed programme with 11 races .
We look forward to welcoming all Road Race Fans to our stand N2 Shelbourne Hall at the RDS 4th-6th March.
Kells MCRC would like to thank Meath Tourism for all their assistance with the stand in the RDS and the members from Kells will be promoting Meath and in particular the Boyne Valley on their stand. This is an ideal opportunity for Race Fans to come along and see what is available in Kells & Meath over the Race Weekend regarding accommodation and entertainment.
